Centennial Project

CENTENNIAL MINE - Active Operation, Permit ACT/007/019

The Centennial Mine is operated by Andalex Resources, Inc. and is located in the rugged Book Cliffs Coal Field approximately 10 miles north, northeast of Price, Utah. It began operating in 1980 and the permit area contains about 5,100 acres involving both fee and federal coal leases.

The initial mining method was by pillar development utilizing one continuous miner section of equipment with final pillar extraction planned. Four coal seams have been mined: the lower Sunnyside Seam, the Centennial Seam, the Gilson Seam, and the Aberdeen Seam. Longwall mining has recently been implemented at the mine and production is about 2 million tons per year.
