GORDON CREEK #3 & #6 MINE - Reclaimed, Permit INA/007/017
Gordon Creek #3 & 6 Mines are located in the Wasatch Coal Field, approximately 10 miles northwest of Price, Utah. The site is in Coal Canyon in the Gordon Creek drainage. Mining began in the North Fork of Gordon Creek in the early 1920's. Swisher Coal Company opened these mines in the 1960's on the south side of Bryner Canyon. Room and pillar mining was used in the Castlegate "A" and Hiawatha coal seams. The mine was reclaimed in the early 1980s and Phase II bond release has been given to this site.
